Tunnel Brinje chosen as best tunnel in Europe for 2007

Last week at Brussels, Hrvatske autoceste - the Croatian Motorways Company was awarded for the tunnel Brinje of motorway Zagreb – Split (A1), as one of the safest European tunnels in 2007.

Lonjsko Polje to be added to UNESCO World Heritage

Croatian Ministry of Culture will make a proposal for Lonjsko Polje Nature Park to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
This process of inclusion in the list can take up to few years.

Croatia Tourism Statistics for 2007

According to Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) , tourist year 2007 in Croatia closed with record figures.
The first draft of 2007 figures are following:

Croatia had a total of 10.8 million visits (6% increase compared to 2006), resulting in just over 57 million overnight stays.

Ski Seasons begins at Bjelolasica

With free ski tickets and hot wine the ski season has begin today at Bjelolasica, the highest mountain in the Velika Kapela massif, Gorski Kotar region .
From today onwards, the Bjelolasica and Tintilinić ski resorts will be opened daily from 9 am to 4pm.
