The Landscaping Institute of the Zagreb Faculty of Agronomics have conceived a complete project for the creation of the first Mediterranean arboretum in Croatia, which is to be located on the Primošten area islet of Smokvica, in the vicinity of Sibenik.

Sibenik , recently saw the first tourist visit to the attractive medieval gardens of the Sveti Lovro monastery, in the area of the monastery closed to the public. This has revived an important part of Sibenik’s history and given it a new dimension in both education and tourism.

The completion of works on the reconstruction of Sibenik’s Cathedral - Sibenska Katedrala Svetog Jakova (Cathedral of St James) are currently approaching its final stages.
The last stage of the Sibenik cathedral facade reconstruction has begun using the latest modern technologies of cleaning.

The Golden Flower of Europe, Europe’s top tourism award, was won this year (among a strong field of 5,600 towns) by the small town of Primošten, located near Šibenik.
The silver award also went to Croatia as the second place winner was declared the town of Biograd , located near Zadar.
