I have seen this majestic, well-proportioned ship many times and I am really pleased that Jadrolinija have decided to repair her and return her to service. The MS.Marco Polo must be a very strongly-built ship to still be reparable after such a heavy impact on rocks! My holidays would not be the same if I did not see the Marco Polo steaming along the Korculinski Channel at full speed!
I am also exceptionally pleased that Jadrolinija have not scrapped the MV. Postira (built for Jadrolinija in 1963) as she is rapidly becoming a tourist attraction in her own right! She is a great little historic ship doing a vital job servicing the Elaphite Islands from Gruz, Dubrovnik. My wife and I enjoy sailing upon her far more than any modern vessel! The Postira should carry a brass plaque celebrating her longevity and her survival of the war!
