Fire outbreak in Kopacki Rit, Croatia

According to Croatian media, the fire that broke out in the Kopacki Rit - Croatia Nature Park, has been put under control.
Since last Thursday afternoon, when the fire initially broke out, it spread to a large area of The Park as efforts to put fire under control were made difficult because that particular area of Kopacki Rit is still mined. The helicopter and a fire-fighting plane took off on Friday afternoon from Zagreb to help with outrage.
The fire destroyed around 550 hectares of grassland and foliage in the park. The material damage and cause of fire will be assessed later, however there are indications the fire was started deliberately. There were no human casualties in the fire.
