To come to this conclusion, EuroTAP  - European Tunnel Assessment Programme inspected 51 tunnels important for European road traffic located in 13 countries across Europe including Croatia with tunnels Ucka, Tuhobic, Plasina, Javorova Kosa, Gric and Mala Kapela.

Accoring to European Tunnel Assessment Programme, every fifth tunnel in Europe does not satisfy minimal safety standards. The most common shortcomings refer to a deficiency in fire protection and lacking escape and rescue routes.
