Vir Island is 25 kilometers north of Zadar and it has an area of 22.38 square kilometers. There is also a small islet nearby called Skoljic that is covered in pine forests and has a long sandy beach. Vir Island has sandy and pebbly beaches that are perfect for families with pine forests right up to the edge. There are also numerous bays and inlets with piers. The Dalmatian island has a bridge to the mainland that was built in 1976 and it is the 20th largest island in the Adriatic.
