The wine resources of Croatia – the homeland of Zinfandel

The new multimedia flash CD ROM " The Wine Resources of Croatia" has released in March 2006.

The aim of this multimedia CD presentation (Flash) is to give information to wine enthusiasts, tourists and occasional passer-by's and spread the knowledge about the ancient viticultural tradition of Croatia.

Special emphasis has been placed on certain varieties such as Babić, Plavac mali, Zinfandel and Graševina, which have become symbols of Croatian winemaking. Details are also given about the research that led to the discovery of Dalmatian origins of the world-famous Zinfandel grape.

Besides lots of useful information about the wine history and tradition of Croatia, information is also given about winemakers, assortment as well as current wine production.

This multimedia CD contains more than 100 color and black and white photos, maps and diagrams and an authentic musical background! A interactive map of winemakers is also included. The beauty of viticultural Croatia will leave you breathless!

About the Author of "The wine resources of Croatia":

Born in 1976, in Zagreb, to a couple of well-known scientists, who dedicated years of research to biomedicine, Jasenka Piljac experienced the beauty and hardships of two worlds, Croatia and California. During her seven-year-long biochemistry and molecular biology studies in California, J. Piljac found that the one thing common to scientists in both worlds is the eagerness for scientific truth. She graduated with honors at the University of California at Davis, in top 10% of her class. For continued academic achievement, J. PIljac received numerous scholarships and awards during her studies at UC Davis, including Dean's Honors List, California grant A, UC Regents Scholarship, etc…

Jasenka Piljac also wrote book about Zifandel wine. This is her statement about the book : "Zinfandel: A Croatian-American Wine Story" is to provide a picturesque and detailed portrayal of the search for original Zinfandel from an insider perspective. This book is a detective tale and a travel log written for all Zinfandel lovers interested in reading about my first hand experience on the 'Zinfandel trail' and the final discovery of its Croatian match. It is also intended for all wine lovers and future visitors to Croatia who will, among the four chapters, surely find useful information about viticultural tradition, wine production and history of Croatia – a small country with more than a thousand islands and five million smiles.
