How do we get by car on the island?

Hi,

Also planning to camp on Vis this summer, a bit deflated seeing there are no campsites. Are there remote areas one can camp without breaking local regulation? Or would locals agree to let you camp on their land? I come by motorbike so I don't take a lot of space.
