Tereziana Hiking Trail at Velebit Mountain

The Tereziana Trail is a part of the old Austro-Hungarian road called Tereziana that linked Gospic and Karlobag via Velebit and went from Gospic via Zabicka street through Zabica, Licki Novi, Brusane and then via Takalice and Ostarije to Konjsko and Vidovac to Karlobag.

Tereziana was completed in 1786 with the technical characteristics of a macadam road. By the decree of Emperor Joseph II the new road was named Maria Theresa Road (Tereziana).

Passing trail one can enjoy picturesque view on Ostarije plateau decorated by stone ledges, while from Ostarije doors there is great view on Adriatic Sea and islands of Zadar and Kvarner archipelago.

Beside spectacular views walkers can experience two climatic and vegetation zones – mountain and Mediterranean – and using interpretation panos get acquainted with wildlife of Velebit, beauties and diversity of karst phenomenas, cultural and architectural heritage of this area and Teraziana, life of people on Velebit once and now…

The trail is suitable for walkers, hikers and mountainbikers.
