I’m planning my travel to Croatia next August during eight nights, beginning in Dubrovnik. At first I had decided to go without any reservations, but later I have thought that it would be better not to loose time looking for a “sobe” and go directly to my reservation. Then my questions are:

    1. Is it better to make the reservations first or not.

    2. In case you tell me to make the reservations first, wich are the best places to stay eight nights from Dubrovnik to Porec?, including also the National Park Plitvicka?

Thank you very much. Any comment will be very helpful.

I would suggest you to make reservation in advance if you want to save time once you arrive.
    Places to see : Dubrovnik-Mljet-Korcula-Hvar-Split-Trogir-Krka-Plitvice-Zagreb.

BTW – Why you need to go to Porec?

Thank you very much por your message. It will be very useful in my travel plan.

I though that Istria was a “must” to see in Croatia and meanly I think the place I want to see overall is Rovinj. do you think that it doesn’t worth to go to Istria. Is it better to go to several island than arrive until Istria?

    Thank you.

Of course Istria it is worth to visit !
The trouble is you are flying to Dubrovnik and have 8 nights only. And you want to see Plitvicka Jezera..
That’s why I suggest you to go to Zagreb instead to Istria.
But if you want to fit all in one trip of 8 nights you perhaps can do Dubrovnik + one of the islands ( Korcula or Hvar) +  Split – + Plitvice + Istria (Rovinj, Pula)…

I feel it is bit tight  with time

Did you consider to do one trip this year around Croatian South and next trip around Croatian North?

…eight nights from Dubrovnik to Porec?

Are you flying back from Pula or Venice or similar?

Thank you to both, Jacov and Peter.

I have to drive to Zagreb, because I must take a train to Budapest. Then, I think I am going to choose just one island (Korkula or Hvar? -this is another problem).

If I see the map, the kilometers are not too much and it seems can be done in eight days without difficult. My great doubt is that if I make the reservations here, in Spain and when I arrive to Croacia I realize that it would have been better to make the travel slowlier and dont having seen so many places, I will never forgive myself. I have read a lot of travel itineraries of people who makes the whole coast in a week.

If I do not make any reservarions I would decide there if I follow to Istria or not, but it is August, is it possible?

    Thank you very much again.

If you are going to have your own car, it will be easier to go around and find accommodations.

As your itinerary is not fixed, don’t make any reservation, just follow your feelings and sleep in places ou like.

It will always be a room available.

It will always be a room available.

You can always drive to another village away from the cost where rooms are more available
