I was wondering which area is a better area to actually stay while in Dubrovnik, the Old Town or Lapad area?
At the moment I’m thinking the Lapad area with the beach, bars and restaurants close by, is this correct?
Thanks

Hard to say, depends of your preferences. I like old town, there are also some beaches near there.
I like Lapad more
Depends on preferences. Lapad can possibly be achieved in many places, the old town of Dubrovnik is in a class of its own.
I really liked Lapad, it had some cool tunes playing down on the beaches, there was more beach space available and there generally was a better vibe i felt – thats if your after a more upbeat “resort” style break. There is some useful information on Croatia at http://www.croatiatourblog.com um not sure if that worked so i will just type it in http://www.croatiatourblog.com/.
I think you can catch bus number 4 and it only takes about 15 minutes to jump between the two sites anyway.
I personally love old Town because there is so much stuff to see and every time I go there I see something new. ha ha new in ”old” town. seriously it is beautiful.
Obviously it depends what suits you, but I really like the Old Town too..it’s a really great base for exploring everything and to have so many sights right outside your door is fantastic!! Also you can go to Smuuti Bar which was my favourite place to breakfast in the whole of Croatia….the fresh fruit smoothies are so yummy!
I prefere Pile area, you are close to the old town and beaches
