  Where do you get boats to take you to islands off Hvar for the day and how much should it cost.
  If you only have 1 day, where should you go?

  Did you consider taking the ferry to Stari grad and then bus from there to Hvar and Visa versa on way home, you can do that in one day and is for sure much less expensive then renting a boat.
