JOHNGuestI am going to be in Croatia over the Easter Holidays this year and I was wondering what the laws were on camping.
I was planning on treking from Dubrovnik and visiting some of the islands and then going basck onto mainland to go into the national park.
Would I be able to camp at this time.
If there are no campsites in the area is it alright to camp in the hills or by the sea?

Have a look at this page : https://www.find-croatia.com/camping-croatia/
I hope this answers your question.
Generally, you are not allowed to camp out of designated areas.
However, if you ask the owner of the field to overnight in his/her field, you are on the safe side.
johnGuestThanks for that. I have checked the website which is the best I have seen so far. The problem seems to be whether the sites will be open as most seem to open in May. Does anyone know if this is so or will I be able to find somewhere to camp?

Hi John,
Although campsites might not be officially opened at the time of your travel, if you ask the owner ( they usually live within the premisses) I am sure they will let you stay.
JakovSpectatorHi John,
Which particular campsites are you intersted to stay in?
Perhaps you can check with the owner and make some kind of reservation in advance?
I also think people will let you camp in their (not yet opened) campsites.

Of course people will let you stay, John!

john rowlandGuestThanks for all your help. It seems I will be alright. Usually I would just put up a tent on the hills somewhere but I had heard a lot of reports about land mines in inland areas which had put me off that idea!
I will be sticking to the coastline most of the trip, island hopping. Some of the islands seem to have cmpsites while others don’t. I will just have to see how things go when I get there, but from what you say I should be able to talk someone into allowing me to put up a tent.
Thanks again for your help.
