An almost unbelievable ecocide is threatening to destroy one of the most beautiful beaches on the Mediterranean Sea.
Huge rocks have been illegally piled on the beach of Makarska. According to unofficial and unconfirmed information, they were deposited there during the ongoing construction of the motorway near Sestanovci.
Most of the rocks were unloaded in the bays along the last remaining green belt in the Makarska area.
The frustrated local citizens suspect that the thick forest nearby will soon also give place to excavators and hotels. They staged a protest and petitioned for the rescue of sub-Biokovo pebble beaches.
