My wife and I are holidaying in Dalmatia for 12 days in September. We finish a cruise in Split on early 27th (possibly late 26th but unlikely) and are wanting to cross to Italy. Our investigation suggests the only ferry route is Split – Ancona and none (Jadrolinija, Blue Ferries or SNAV) seem to depart on the Saturday (27th) so we have to wait until Sunday when there is a choice of 2, both sailing at 9pm. Are there any other ferries or other opportunities (other destinations in Italy) to cross to Italy before the Sunday night ferry? Ferries also travel to Pescara but it appears not at that time of year? Any other suggestions?

    Many Thanks

You can go to Zadar and take ferry to Ancona :
    ZADAR 27.09.2008 12:00 ANCONA 27.09.2008 18:00

Or if you want to go down to Dubrovnik,  there is ferry from Dubrovnik to Bari : DUBROVNIK 27.09.2008 16:00 BARI 27.09.2008 22:00

I don’t think you will find anything else from Split except flight from Split (via Zagreb) to Rome. Croatia Airlines, depart Split 1pm arrival Rome 5pm.

Thank you, Mario, for the advice.

I assume a bus from Split to Zadar would be the best way to get there. Is the bus stop in Zadar near the port/ferry or do I need to allow more time for that? I assume you can only buy tickets at the port so how long before departure do you need to be at the port? I’m trying to determine how long I would need to allow to get to the ferry on time. I expect it might mean a 7am bus from Split.

Many thanks in advance for your advice.

Yes, bus is a good way, lot of buses go up and down the coast.

Bus station in Split is very near the ferry port, see map here:

    https://www.find-croatia.com/map-split-city-bus-transport/

In Zadar is bit futher, but not very far. Give 1/2 hour for that max.
Buses to Zadar Info and links are here https://www.find-croatia.com/zadar/buses-zadar.php

You can but ferry ticket in advance from here:
    http://www.traghettionline.net/eng/index.asp?partner=find-croatia

Even if you have ticket in advance, you stil need to be there early to embark on ferry thereforeg go to Zadar as early as possible.
