    Hello,
we will spend a week in green Istria for a enogastronomic tour on the first week of January 2011
Can you recommend a few good genuine konobas that we should visit ?
We have a car so driving is not a problem

    Thanks

    dopolavoro.hr/galerija.html
    konoba-marino-gracisce.hr/2.konoba.htm
    villa-calussovo.com/hr,312,restoran.aspx
but i don’t know if they’re open in the winter

    Hello again,
our little tour was beautiful; perfect weather, great food & fantastic sceneries for my old non-digital camera.
This time we visited eastern Istria and Kvarner all the way down to Cape Kamenjak, which is absolutely impressive without the summer crowds.
As suggested, we visited Restoran Dopolavoro in the woods of Mt. Uckaand it was a real highlight for truffles, mushrooms, njoki and game dishes – i’ll never get tired of that stuff – but it makes me a little sad to see all those hunting trophies all around and bear goulash on the menu.
For fish our favorite place was istarska konoba Martin Pescador in Trget near Labin, almost impossible to find in a little bay where the road seems to end. Obviously the fish was superfresh but we were particularly conquered by the 4 or 5 bottles of different extra-virgin olive oil on the table for us to taste and compare along with delicious simple bread.
Then we took a detour toward Cres island where we discovered Gostionica Mareta in Miholaš?ica which became our homebase for 2 days after they served me the best granseola i’ve ever tasted in my life.
We just love this part of the world in the off-season, hopefully there’s enough time to make a comeback before the summer starts again
