Also, doctors and dentists on the islands. There are families with rooms to let at every island where local people live.
Lerger islands have resident doctors and dentists, while smaller ones have visiting doctors.
In case of emergency, all islands are connected with emergency jet service.
PeterSpectatorIf you want to choose your island, first choose the area.
Do you preffer to be in north adriatic or south?
Do you preffer to be close to the mainland or further?
These two points are important to start with..
trish-onlineSpectatorHow do you know what families have rooms to let? And what are the prices per day, weekly, and monthly?

Choose your island and then check what is advertised as available for that island on internet.
You can use travel directory here: https://www.find-croatia.com/directory/ for listings .
Also use google to search for particular island. And what are the prices per day, weekly, and monthly?
Depending of island. Some are cheaper then others.
Prices are usually quoted per night.
Hovewer, if you find something that ou like, try to negotiate price for longer stay.
MarioSpectatorI would budget a double room for about 100 kuna per night, average, for long term let.
This would be minimum price.
trish-onlineSpectatorHow much are groceries a week for 2 adults and a small child? Are they reasonable? How about hook up to the internet?

This would be minimum price.Yes, that would be the price. But if you dont mind location maybe you can find nice small flat without sea views even for less. I think you need to offer to pay for electricity / heating as that can be expensive in the winter.

Food is as expensive as in Western Europe.
Similar prices.
Broadband is about 250 kuna per month plus you need to connect the landline and pay for its subscription
trish-onlineSpectatorAre there open markets that sell food? How expensive are the restaurants?
TravelGirlSpectatorAre there open markets that sell food?
Yes, almost every town has an open market that sells local products like cheese, fruit and veg. But these products are not cheap. They are probably same price, even more expensive. Organic food prices :'(
How expensive are the restaurants?
Some are expensive, some not. Basic food like pizza can be about 30 kuna. Good choice is gulash or some other cooked food that can be 25-30 kuna in basic restaurants. Fish can be expensive in posh restaurants.
trish-onlineSpectatorI’m not into posh. I enjoy family owned restaurants. What and where are the bargains for anything? Do people drink a lot of wine and alcohol there? How about smoking?

Smoking is still ok here. Beer and wine too
trish-onlineSpectatorSounds like a winner… lol
