PeterSpectatorWe are looking for a self catering property with restaurants and bars within walking distance . We don’t like anywhere too busy though.
We intend to do a lot of walking and hiking in the area, and will definitely hire a car. We don’t need to be near a beach, but don’t mind either way.
If you are after walking an hiking, then I suggest you to have a look at places away from the coast. Places like Motovun, Pazin, Groznjan, or similar.
You are aftre self catering, so Hotel Kastel in Motovun is not the option, although I love that place.
Some nice self – catering places in Motovun are listed here : https://www.find-croatia.com/directory/places/motovun/

Do you prefer cottage / house/ villa or apartment ???
FoggySpectatorYou can always take taxi if restaurants are not on the walking distance
Kitty55ScotlandGuestThanks for the repies guys. I know it may sound strange but although we would drive to different areas where we can walk/hike, we’d like to have bars and restaurants close to our accommodation. I suppose for that reason it would have to be an apartment, rather than a cottage or villa which I imagine would be located in rural areas.
I have heard wonderful things about the food and wine,so would like to try lots of different restaurants.
At the moment we are looking at Rovinj, any thoughts on this as a choice?

MarioSpectatorI like Rovinj because you can go for day trip to Venice fo 70 Euro. Not expensive.
