Hello,
My friend and I are planning an island hopping trip leaving mid july, but we don’t have a lot of money and I’m worried we’ll find ourselves penniless fairly quickly. Does anybody know the likelyhood of two english guys finding work on the islands, bearing in mind we’ll be staying in a tent most nights, and will probably look like death most days.
We’re both guitarists and have busked in the UK but I’m not sure how much we should rely on this as income, I was also wondering what attitudes towards street musicians are on the islands, and if this is a terrible idea or not.
If there are any websites/organisations geared towards finding backpackers casual work that anyone knows of it would be a great help, or any bars etc that might let us play some tunes in return for bread and water.
I hope this is the right place to ask such questions.
Thanks, Monty and James.
You could maybe contact Hostel Split, they normally have and animator who hanges out with the quest, maybe they havent found one for this year?
Thanks for the advice, I’ve contacted the hostel, however usually my job applications are unsuccesful…let alone transnational applications. What is the likelyhood of finding work whilst moving around the islands? Is there anything specifically for travellers, like fruit picking etc?
Any advice at all is appreciated, this is quite decisive as to whether we can go or not, we’re so poor.
Thanks again!
With 15-20% of the locals been unemployed I sincerely doubt you would be able to find a job down here. Wine and Olive picking is not before September / October.
Well that’s depressing.
But i guess at least better then giving you any false hope
