Town of Krk announced as best tourist destination in Croatia in 2006
The Town of Krk is announced last night, at as top tourist destination in Croatia in 2006. It’s announcement came as part of the “Turisti?ki cvijet-kvaliteta za Hrvatsku” ( Tourist Flower- quality for Croatia) award ceremony at Bol on Island of Brac .
In category of destination of up to 10000 beds “Turisti?ki cvijet”, the Croatian Tourism Award, the first place Krk too, second and third place won Hvar and Rab … For destinations of up to 5000 beds, the first place won Cavtat, second and third place won Cres and Lovran.
In category of best tourist destination with more then 10000 beds, the first place won Porec, second and third Dubrovnik and Pula.
For Continental Croatia part of the award, the best tourist destination was awarded to Varazdin, as the best tourist place in Continental part of Croatia , while second and third place was awarded to Karlovac and Plitvicka Jezera (Plitvice Lakes)
The best 3 star hotel in Croatia for 2006 is Hotel Berulija at Brela and the best 5 star hotel is Hotel Dubrovnik Palace at Dubrovnik.
For the best 5 star hotels in Continental Croatia, hotel Sheraton in Zagreb, Hotel Osjek in Osijek (Slavonija) and Hotel Turist in Vrazdin (Hrvatsko Zagorje) were awarded too. Among small family hotels, first place was awarded to Hotel Korana in Karlovac, second place to Hotel Park in Split, third to Hotel Laurentum in Tucepi ( near Makarska)
The best marina in Croatia for 2006 ws Marina Punat on Krk Island. Best croatian Beach was Banje Beach in Dubrovnik. Best Croatian campsite is Camp Park in Umag.
The ceremony was attended by number of media, tourism and travel personalities of Croatia as well as by Bozidar Klameta, Croatian Minister of Tourism, Transport, Sea and Development.
